Recognize Your Commitment to Governance Excellence
If your hospital is already investing in trustee and leadership education, the CHTL Accreditation Program makes it easier for your board members to earn CHTL credit along the way.
Through this program, THT accredits member hospitals whose in-house governance education programs meet CHTL standards. Once accredited, your trustees can receive streamlined CHTL credit for the programs you’re already running.
Is Your Hospital Eligible?
To participate, your hospital must:
- Be a current THT member hospital
- Offer structured, in-house governance education for trustees and leaders
- Cover content aligned with CHTL core competencies, which include health care governance fundamentals, strategic leadership, financial stewardship, quality and safety oversight, and ethics and compliance
If your hospital is already hosting board education sessions, retreats, or leadership development programming, you likely meet the criteria.
How to Get Accredited
Getting your program accredited is straightforward. Here’s how the process works:
Step 1 — Submit Your Program Agenda
Submit a description of your in-house programming, sample curriculum or session outlines, and session start and end times.
Step 2 — THT Reviews Your Program
THT staff will review your submission to confirm alignment with CHTL competency standards. If any adjustments are needed, we’ll provide clear feedback and recommendations to help you qualify.
Step 3 — Receive Your Accreditation
Once approved, THT will designate the number of hours that your program qualifies for and provide standard CHTL continuing education information to include on your agenda.
Why It Matters
Accreditation through this program signals that your hospital takes board governance seriously — and it makes a real difference for your trustees. Rather than seeking outside credit hours individually, your board members can earn CHTL recognition through the programs you’ve built for them.
