What has been most rewarding during your board service? Serving with such a distinguished group of ladies and gentlemen has been the most rewarding aspect of my board service. Each has been a true blessing in my life as I have been able to both learn from them and establish meaningful friendships.
What has been the most challenging issue for your board? Dealing with the many aspects of the pandemic was definitely the most challenging period as a hospital board. The leadership of Peterson Health did a tremendous job in navigating the many challenges Covid presented.
What was your board’s proudest moment? The approval and breaking ground for our new Amanda and J David Williams Surgery Center that is currently in the construction process is, in my opinion, our proudest moment. This will be a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center that will allow Peterson Health to continue to fulfill its mission of World Class Care – Today, Tomorrow, Always.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned as a board member? The most valuable lesson I have learned as a board member is how an effective board should function. I have been able to take what I have learned on this board and apply those principles to other boards.
Why did you choose to become a Certified Healthcare Trustee? Not being a medical professional, I felt it important to learn from a board level what my role entailed and how I could effectively help Peterson Health. Becoming a Certified Healthcare Trustee was an important step in this process.
About Me
My background: I graduated with a BBA in Marketing from Texas A&M University in 2002 and have been in the banking industry since that time. It is a wonderful career! I am the Kerrville President for The Bank and Trust, SSB.
My childhood ambition: Becoming a professional fisherman and hunter was my childhood ambition. Then reality set in and I realized those were best kept as hobbies and I should get a real career if I wanted to do them often.
My favorite person: Do I have to choose just one? I have been blessed by such an amazing family. All that the generations before did has not been lost on me in the legacy they have provided. They are my favorites.
Last place I traveled: My most recent trip was a 20th anniversary trip with my wife. We visited The Bungalows in Key Largo, Florida. I highly recommend it!
My favorite place in Texas: Our home. We have 40 acres and a small hobby farm that includes goats and chickens. My heart is happiest there with my wife and kids as we have the privilege of living in the Texas Hill Country.
