Darren Skyles, J.D., Partner, Nelson Mullins, Houston

Darren serves as the Vice Industry Team Lead and is an actively involved member of the FBT Health Care Innovation Team. Practicing out of both the Houston and Dallas offices, Darren has deep knowledge and experience in health care legal matters, including outside general counsel services, mergers & acquisitions, transactional enterprises, regulatory issues, compliance/governance, operational matters, corporate transactions, fraud and abuse, privacy and security, medical staff issues, governmental entity laws, and litigation. As part of his robust practice, Darren also collaborates with clients on Value-Based Care payment models and counsels on and assists with specialized corporate transactions in the health care space.

As a member of the Greater Houston Partnership Life Science Committee, Darren interacts with other key members of Houston’s rapidly expanding life science ecosystem and maintains a focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

governance issues. As clients’ risks and vulnerabilities with the rapidly advancing pace of AI development and application increase, Darren remains attuned to the

current issues in AI to counsel clients on its expansion and challenges, toward helping them develop an effective AI governance program.

Prior to joining FBT, Darren served as the Vice President of Legal Affairs at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and he practiced in the health care practice group at several major Texas law firms. In private practice, Darren oversaw the legal, compliance, and regulatory affairs of two health care systems which grew, during his representation and oversight, into significantly larger health care systems. Before practicing law, Darren served as a director in the Division of Public Affairs of The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

David Hilderbrand, Chief Commercial Officer, Ferrum Health

David Hilderbrand has spent 28 years building commercial operations that scale across borders, cultures, and complex healthcare markets.

He served as EVP of Revenue at Blackford, where he developed the partnership strategy that led to a successful acquisition by Bayer Healthcare. Before that, he was Executive VP of Global Sales at Rhapsody, an HG Capital-owned company, where he set up the global structure that secured growth and revenue. At Bayer Healthcare, he built the informatics initiative for EMEA as Head of Informatics for the Radiology Business Unit, working out of Berlin. Earlier in his career, he led commercial operations for EMEA at Vital Images as VP of Sales and Marketing, based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The through line across all of it: he knows how to build revenue engines in healthcare technology, navigate international markets, and position companies for growth and successful exits.

At Ferrum, David leads all commercial operations as Chief Commercial Officer. He is responsible for scaling the business, building the revenue strategy, and establishing the commercial foundation that turns Ferrum’s platform advantage into market leadership.

David serves as Commercial Chair of the CARS Foundation, bringing his decades of experience in healthcare imaging and informatics to help advance the field.

He has worked across continents, built teams in multiple countries, and operated in some of the most complex healthcare markets in the world. He brings that perspective to Ferrum every day.

Jamie Bergen, Director of Customer Success, Ferrum Health 

Jamie Bergen builds the systems that help healthcare organizations see what’s actually working.

Over the past decade, she’s led value-based care programs worth more than $400 million and helped scale a startup from pilot stage through IPO. At Stellar Health, she expanded a pilot from 12,000 to 70,000 covered lives. At Signify Health, she led shared savings and analytics programs that changed how organizations measured performance and made decisions.

At Ferrum, Jamie leads the design and execution of Observability Lens, translating clinical AI governance principles into a product customers can use. She manages account management, operations, and strategic teams, owning post-deployment execution and customer health. Her work sits at the intersection of product strategy, customer delivery, and data-driven decision making.

Her vision is simple: establish Ferrum as the industry standard for clinical AI observability and governance, where health systems trust us not just to deploy AI, but to continuously evaluate, monitor, and evolve it.

Jamie holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science. She’s a retired long-distance runner who’s completed three of the six marathon majors and plans to finish the challenge before turning 45. She loves spending time with family, traveling, and being anywhere near or on the water.
