THT: The Trusted Resource for Trustee EducationTexas Healthcare Trustees has supported trustees since 1961 with relevant education programs, timely information about governance and health care and leadership recognition. Texas health care governing board members are devoted to the health and well-being of the community and our vision is that all trustees will be prepared to lead, govern and take action to benfit their community. Together, we can navigate the challenges of budget constraints, health care professional shortages and the exploding numbers of uninsured. Change is occurring at an unprecedented pace in health care, making it more important than ever that board members be educated, informed and armed to lead their organizations into the future. The Texas Healthcare Trustees voluntary board certification program is designed to help health care board members become better qualified to make effective and efficient decisions for the future of their health care organizations. This program also verifies a board member’s efforts to remain up-to-date on health care issues on the local and national levels.
The Texas Healthcare Trustees Certification Program is for board members who have served on a hospital or health system board in Texas for at least one year and have committed themselves to further knowledge through continuing education and improving their personal health care knowledge.
THT Certification:
- Assures the hospital and community that the board member is committed to his or her work as a governing board member in this demanding industry;
- Assists the board member in getting a full range of skills to make challenging decisions facing their health care organization;
- Enables hospitals and communities to know they are guided by knowledgeable and dedicated board members;
- Allows board members to become ambassadors and champions for health care in their community;
- Assists each board member in meeting his/her fiduciary duties of care, loyalty and obedience.
Texas Healthcare Trustees Certification Program has a term of three years with an option to renew after the third year. Education must either be completed through approved sources or completed in specific categories.
