About the webinar:

This session will begin with an overview of Texas hospitals' performance in 2015. Following a quick look at a Medicare market share analysis, additional information will be presented on the basics of the various hospital payment and quality programs implemented by Medicare and Medicaid. Questions are certainly welcome!

  • Outline the basics of hospital payment programs; and
  • Identify characteristics of various hospital payment and quality programs under Medicare and Medicaid.

 

About the speaker:

Richard Schirmer currently serves as the vice president for health care policy analysis at the Texas Hospital Association. He has held this position for a majority of the 28 years he has worked at THA. As THA’s chief data nerd, he is responsible for organizing and directing THA’s analysis of data/information. Prior to THA Richard worked for 10 years in the Austin health care market.

Board composition and board leadership succession is now part of the national conversation for hospital boards and indeed a strategic issue for most every board. As boards age and pressure to perform in a more disruptive environment increases, the right people at the table have never been more important. How do you profile the board you will need in the next few years? How do you move board members off the board to make way for different talent? What’s the right approach to seating younger members as directors? We will explore this topic in both strategic and tactical detail that you can apply right away.

About the speaker:

Les Wallace, Ph.D. is president of Signature Resources and author of Principles of 21st Century Governance.  In thirty years as university professor, hospital administrator and global business consultant Dr. Wallace has earned a reputation of getting to the critical issues and brining the latest in practice advice to his audiences and clients. A veteran consultant on executive leadership and high performance governance he has worked with over 300 board of directors. He is a frequent coach to CEOs on working with boards and with boards on strategy development.
